Ingredients
1 lb ground Italian sausage
1 onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
4 cups beef broth
1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
8 lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
1 cup ricotta cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the Italian sausage over medium-high heat. Add onions and garlic, and cook until onions are translucent.
- Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer.
- Add broken lasagna noodles to the pot and cook until noodles are tender, about 10-12 minutes.
- In a small bowl, combine ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses.
